It is well known that New Zealand scenery is spectacular but what's the best way to see it? There is no doubt that a campervan holiday is a great way to see the country and take in all the beautiful sights.

The NZ landscape can change dramatically in a few hundred kilometres so a roadtrip in your motorhome or campervan is an ideal way not to miss a thing.

You can drive from Christchurch on the east coast to Greymouth on the west coast of the South Island in about three hours. But on the way, the scenery changes dramatically. You leave the garden city and head out through relatively flat farmland towards the Southern Alps which rise up majestically in front of you. Then it's driving through the mountains and then you hit Arthur's Pass National Park and suddenly the relatively sparse vegetation gives way to lush native rain forest. The drive down the Otira Gorge is spectacular and the west coast's beauty is its wildness and lushness.

Not a day's drive from Greymouth and you're in glacier country - more dramatic New Zealand scenery. Follow the road south and cross the beautiful Haast Pass and then you come to Wanaka and further on Queenstown with their lakes reflecting the surrounding mountains.

The drive from Christchurch to Queenstown is only a small part of New Zealand and there are so many other routes with equally amazing scenery - all waiting to be explored by you in your campervan.

You can stop and have lunch where you like - often with views from your camper van that a restaurant would die for. You can find that spot with fantastic views for some overnight freedom camping - imagine the cost of real estate with that view!! That's why a campervan or motorhome holiday is perfect for seeing the best scenery New Zealand has to offer.
